What information is essential for choosing the right bike size?
Before buying the bike of your dreams, you need to calculate 2 fundamental physical criteria: height and inseam height. While everyone is generally familiar with the first parameter, the same cannot be said for the second (foot/perineum distance), which is of prime importance.

From a geometric point of view, the electric-assist bike differs from a traditional mountain bike or road bike. The addition of the motor and the integration of the battery is not without consequences for the shape of the frame.
However, most EAB manufacturers keep measurements as simple as possible, generally limiting the number of sizes available to the following 4: S – M – L – XL. These correspond to very different gauges ranging from 1.50m to 2.00m. What’s more, some models, like Moustache’s Lundi 26, come in one size only, to make your choice as easy as possible.

Our tip for choosing the right size
Beyond size, the crucial point to consider for an electrically-assisted bike (excluding motorization) is the type of frame. Open, sloping, trapezoidal or straight, the multitude of available geometries offers advantages and behaviour adapted to all constraints.
For frequent straddling during urban travel, open or wave frames are preferred. Straight frames are sportier and more responsive, but lose comfort thanks to a more aggressive chest position. A sloping frame provides the ideal compromise between aerodynamics and comfort. The choice is yours!

You may find yourself between two frame sizes. A slightly smaller frame gives you more sportiness and responsiveness, while a larger frame guarantees greater stability and easier clearance. In case of doubt, we advise you to choose the second option to maintain the bike’s desired properties. You can then adjust the components if they are not in the optimum position.
In any case, save precious time by carrying out a postural study! By accurately determining the dimensions of the perfect bike for your body size (frame size, stem length, crank length, handlebar width, etc.), this in-store measurement will help you avoid errors and approximations when choosing the right bike size!
