In 1969, Seattle engineer and lifelong mountaineer Larry Penberthy founded Mountain Safety Research, a one-man crusade to improve the safety of climbing equipment. The driving force behind Larry’s passion was a simple belief that still drives our team today.

From this idea was born a pioneering company whose innovations have revolutionized the way people around the world experience the great outdoors. Today, we’re a close-knit team, still obsessed with designing the most reliable, high-performance equipment possible, using our knowledge of engineering and science to find better solutions to the challenges of the mountains.
